CARE TO TAKE A JOY RIDE?
Can you say Jinba-Ittai?

Good things come in small packages. When is a car not just a car? When its a Mazda Miata MX-5, widely known to be a JOYMOBILE. This is my new (old) Miata being delivered to me. This car actually IS a joy ride.

Im anything but a car snob. I had my previous car for 13 years. This isnt about having a car that people envy, although you may very well envy this one. The Miata is one of the most beautiful, fun, joyous design and technology creations of the last few decades.

Car lovers unite in loving the MX-5. There have been four generations. Mine is the NC, the third generation, hailing from 2012. Its hilariously considered to be the big one because its 1–2 bigger in some spots. All I can say is that its completely comfortable, astonishingly so for a petite two-seater. And the trunk is a pleasure, not constricting, something people worry about when considering one of these beauties.

The Miata has hundreds of accolades all over the internet you can easily find. A couple key points are that its engineered based on the Japanese principle called Jinba-Ita translating to horse and rider, meaning that you feel one with the car. Its built into every decision made to create this car thats withstood the test of time and a pure pleasure to experience.

Unlike most corporations, Mazda has stuck to its guns with the Miata and kept what everyone loves about the car throughout the decades since its 1990 beginnings. Huge kudos to them for not caving to the pressures of the grass always being greener. Whats resulted is legions of diehard fans, including pretty much all the car guys you could ever poll.

My own amazing car, named Joji (Japanese for George, the awesomely helpful guy who delivered it) is nothing but a joy ride.

Oh and the Miata is incredibly affordable. My used beauty in pristine condition came in at around $21k. Miatas are incredibly reliable and you can easily get parts, due to their popularity, so buying a Miata with mileage is not a big deal, although mine was not bad at 50k.

Any Miata lovers among you car or design aficionados out there?

Many years ago I house sat for a friend who had a Miata and I drove it around to keep the battery charged. I have a few customers who have Miatas and they love them (one stopped by today). I have read good things about the Miata and a week or so ago watched this video by one of the most followed auto site on the internet., Scotty Kilmer is quite a character, but he is very knowledgeable. I've had a couple of Mazda trucks and currently have a Mazda3 ....and have been happy with all of them. Mazda really does put a lot of thought into the engineering and craftsmanship of the vehicles. I'd probably get a Miata, but my two dogs wouldn't fit in the front seat 😛 ....and the Mazda3 is actually a fun car to drive besides being very practical. Congratulations on your new Miata....I like the color! 🙂 www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fh2cApa64A

By choice, I've never owned a car. But I remember when the Miata came out (I guess it was 1989, if the model year was 1990.) I was in high school, and hadn't yet made the decision not to have a car. This was one I was dreaming about (along with the redesigned-for-1990-model year Toyota Celica, which I thought/think was similarly beautiful). I was reading Consumer Reports (yes, even as a teenager--I was such a geek!😄) and I remember that they rated both cars highly. But... yeah, there is just something about the Miata that is perfection. Congratulations!! (Btw my former coworker has had a blue one like that for many many years, and still raves about it!)

I have fond memories of your Mini Cooper! Enjoy your cool, old/new ride!

Nice car 🚗

YOURE EVERYTHING --

You get to a point where you realize were all things: good and bad, right and wrong, smart and dumb, devoted and distracted, loving and fearful... its not about passing judgment (which doesnt mean you cant ever make a judgment call). When you realize that you contain everything, its humbling and it gives you a new perspective on the choices you get to make.

The ability to hold two seemingly opposing ideas at once without making one or the other right or wrong is the mark of a great mind, according to many, including F. Scott Fitzgerald and Carl Jung.

ITS ALL ABOUT CHOICES IN LIFE. And you can choose differently any day you decide to. What do you choose today?

Honoring my mothers concept of bothness and the brilliant and wise Lisa DeLand who wrote about this recently.

Today, Im THANKFUL FOR:
CATS IN ISTANBUL --

What small thing are you thankful for today?

My brother sent me this picture from his current location in Istanbul and said its CLEARLY MY CITY, as there are cats everywhere!

Todays Thanksgiving in the U.S., a holiday where people gather, eat turkey and cranberry sauce and fall asleep early from too much tryptophan.

But the bigger message of taking a moment to give thanks can never come at a bad time. Gratitude begets more good things coming your way. Even in the worst of circumstances, theres much to be grateful for in this crazy, unpredictable ride called life.

One of my heroes, Victor Frankl, who lived through the concentration camps, proved this to be true. You actually can be grateful and thankful in the face of horrors. And when you do that, you live a meaningful and wonder-filled life.

Pain shows you pleasure. All feelings reveal their opposing side. Pain can be a gateway for all the places you get to choose happiness in your life.

Sending you much joy and the beautiful growth that pain is here to teach us on this day honoring thankfulness.

STAIRS MATTER!

Ever think about what life would be like without stairs? How would you get to the second floor, lol? Besides how beautiful they can be, as in this striking staircase shaped like a seashell, I think about them every day because I live on the second floor of a cool, old 1800s former hotel and go up and down the stairs countless times a day.

Stairs can keep you fit besides getting you where you want to go. Ive been grateful for my stairs and during the pandemic, was very aware that they might be giving me my main form of exercise.

Is it time for you to take the stairs up to the next level of your dreams, your life, your business, your courageousness, all thats possible for you?

If you dont climb that staircase, youll stay below. Maybe thats fine for now. But maybe its time to get closer to the heavens.

You only have to take one step at a time. Its literally the only way to go forward or up and when you focus on just the next step, it lets your vision meet you where you are.

Ready to take the next step to your dream state of being in your home, head and heart? I can help make it real and I have for gorgeous souls like you.

Keep your eyes on this space for an upcoming FREE MASTERCLASS on how to clear out all the junk thats literally and figuratively clogging up your home (and head) and holding you back and make way for the best life youve ever imagined.

NOTHING SAYS STYLISH GRACE MORE THAN A CAT --

Wondering whats the perfect finishing touch for your beautiful home? A vase? A cool retro music stand? A bookshelf or plants? All can be nice. But nothings more picturesque and nothing says home like a cat. Check out how Sébastian turns my hallway runner into art (rug design Blackberry by me).

And while cats can find the fun in any pile of paper, both you and they will live a different and more soul-satisfying life when you clear out the space to spread your wings and paws.

Curious where to start with a major clearout? Im about to share a FREE MASTERCLASS on how to declutter and make extra cash selling what you declutter on Poshmark. Check this space for details soon or message me.

WHAT DO CATS KNOW?
THE GOLDEN RATIO OR DIVINE PROPORTION FOR STARTERS...

Check out how Autumn, my beloved previous CEO (cat executive officer) knows how to use the principle of THE GOLDEN RATIO, otherwise known as Divine Proportion, in this pic. This is real. The ratio comes from the Fibonacci sequence, a naturally occurring sequence of numbers that can be found everywhere, from the number of leaves on a tree to the shape of a seashell.

The Golden Ratio informs much of whats considered to be great or pleasing design. You can find the Golden Ratio when you divide a line into two parts and the longer part by the smaller part is equal to the sum of both divided by the longer part, which both equal 1.618. This formula can help you when creating shapes, logos, layouts and more.

In laymans terms, it translates into a pleasing off-center focus, as you can see in Autumns pose here.

I believe Autumn knew she looked magnificent against the green wall, perched high up in the sky of my office surrounded by warm wood tones. Not to mention her green eyes matching the wall.

What about you? Ready to try your hand at using the DIVINE PROPORTION in your own place? You really cant mess it up; you can always redo things. This approach tends to give you a satisfying, pleasing feeling.

And heres the rub. You gotta CLEAR OUT YOUR SPACE before you can apply any sort of design principles to it. If you havent started decluttering, Im about to offer a series of FREE MASTER CLASSES on getting started so you dont feel overwhelmed. Watch this space for details soon.

What happens when you put on a costume?

Halloween 2022. Corpse Bride costume. The amazing fun that happens when you put on a costume is freedom and curiosity. People talk to each other openly. I couldnt believe how many people (and little kids) knew I was the Corpse Bride. I wasnt sure I was pulling it off and havent even seen the movie.

Costumes ironically can let you be more of yourself. Heres to letting more of that in on the daily.

STARTING SMALL WORKS

You become addicted to the life you dont want. -- Dr. Joe Dispenza.

Clearing the clutter and chaos out of your head, heart and home is a powerful place to let in the space needed to heal. Starting small works.

Were all our own worst enemies. We know what works in all areas and with all types of habits but we resist it for a million reasons. Its not always simple why were sabotaging our lives. But you can make a decision to choose differently. Every day youre alive.

Youve heard it before: if you keep doing the same things youre doing, youre going to get the same results youve been getting. Its time to be brave and try something different.

Are you brave enough? Youve got everything you want in this one precious lifetime at stake.

Many people try to do the right thing and it's hard by yourself. There one who can be with you 24/7 if you want. God is always waiting for an opportunity. You only have to ask. He can come in if you open the door. The world want all you have and more, because it never gets satisfied. God wants you to succeed, but with a life that helps others. Ask him to help. And the bible has answers as well. God is bigger than any problems. The old man in Iowa
